OGANDE

  • School Population: 350+
  • Community Outreach: 520+
  • Type: Borehole
  • Duration: Operational since January 2023 – No Taps has been working with this school since 2021
  • Future Plans: Growing a vegetable patch in the boarding school’s garden
    enables students to learn crop cultivation and feed off their crops.

  • Water Tanks: Three functional tanks (10,000L , 5,000L , 2,000L)
  • Catchment Population: 7,000 people
  • Community  Engagement: Project to be at the health center , community water access
  • Adjacent to: Ragwe Secondary and Rangwe Primary Schools
  • Road Conditions: Rough, impassable during the rainy Season

WATATA

  • Name: Watata Primary School 
  • Location: Nyanza, Kenya
  • Size: One Large Tank and Two Medium-Sized Storage Tanks
  • School Population: 382+ 
  • Rainwater Collection During Rainy Season and Daily Use
  • Type: Guttering Installation across five buildings
  • Duration: Operational since May 2022
  • Future Plans: Fencing for Project Preservation, and Secure Underground Water
    Storage

KARABONDI

  • Location: Homa Bay County
  • Size: 10,000 Liters of Clean Water per Hour, 240,000 Liters per Day capacity
  • Type: Filtration Plant
  • Process: Aeration, Flocculation, Sedimentation, Filtration, Disinfection
  • Operational Since: November 2020
  • Duration: Expected 10+ Year Lifespan
  • Future Plans: Transporting excess water to nearby schools facing water
    scarcity.

KISAKA PRIMARY SCHOOL

  • School Population: 320 learners
  • Community Population: 2,000 people
  • Distance from Lake Shore: 100 meters
  • Daily Water Usage: 1,000L
  • Community Usage: 25,000L
  • Water Tanks: One 10,000L for rain harvesting
  • Community  Engagement: People at the School, Community water access
  • Road Conditions: Halfway murramed, half cotton soil (impassable during rain season)

WADONGO

  • Name: Wadongo Primary School Water Project
  • Location: Homa Bay County, Kenya
  • Size: Two Large 30,000L Tanks and Multiple Medium-Sized Tanks
  • Community Outreach: Benefiting over 200 community members
  • Duration: Continuous Water Provision
  • Type: Rainwater Harvesting and Storage System
  • Future Plans: Expanding Water Access to Local Health Clinic and Vocational
    Training Center

HOMALINE HEALTH CENTRE

  • Patients Served per Month: 500
  • Distance from Lake Shore: 400 meters
  • Daily Water Usage: 600L
  • Community Usage: 420,000L
  • Water Tanks: Two (20,000L and 8,000L)

UTAJO PRIMARY SCHOOL

  • School Population: 342 learners

  • Surrounding Population: 18,000 People
  • Community  Engagement: Project at the School, Community water access
  • Road Conditions: Rough, impassable during the rainy season

A LIFELINE IN MAASAI MARA

  • Size: Providing Vital Water Supply
  • Community Outreach: 290+ Extending to Local Communities, Including a Local School

  • Future Plans: Exploring Piping for Greater Reach

NGEGU HEALTH CENTRE

  • Patients Served per Month: 400
  • Distance from Lake Shore: 800 meters
  • Daily Water Usage: 600L
  • Community Usage: 214,420L
  • Water Tanks: Two (10,000L and 18,000L), totaling 18,000L
  • Catchment Population: 7,147 people
  • Community  Engagement: Project at the health center, Community water access
  • Road Conditions: Good due to proximity to Kisumu Homa Bay highway 

BONDO TOWNSHIP PRIMARY SCHOOL

  • School Population: 729 learners
  • Community Population: 7000 people
  • Distance from Lake Shore: 400 meters
  • Daily Water Usage:2,500L
  • Community Usage: 560,000L
  • Water Tank: Two (10,000L and 5,000L), totaling 15,000L
  • Community Engagement: Project at the school, community water access
  • Road Conditions: No road issues, near Mbita Rusinga road

Institution: Nangweso Special School for the Deaf
Principal: Anne Annker
Nyangweso Special School for the Deaf Pry is a public primary school in West Kochia. This school is run by central government/deb. It is a day school. This educational institution is an ordinary and mixed type of institution.
The School is located in Homa Bay County, Rangwe Constituency. The geographical location map coordinates for this school is -0.474454 (Latitude), 34.546897 (Longitude).
The school has a population of 200 learners and gets water from a nearby Dam that is across the road managed by Lake Basin Development Authority for use. They have written to Lake Basin Development Authority to give the school access to use the water for filtration.
The Dam is 400m from the school and poses a very high risk for the deaf children when crossing the road to fetch water from the Dam. The school on a daily basis uses around 2,000L of water per day.
The school has a broken borehole fixed with solar panels. Water from the borehole is very high in fluoride and therefore not suitable for use.
The institution has applied to the county government children office to assist the school to fund partially the guttering system.
Nyangweso special School for the Deaf is surrounded by a population of around 5,000 people and consumes around 300,000L of water per day.

Institution: Kolunga Community Health Center
In-charge- Griffine Owino
Kolunga Community Health Center is a clinic in Homa Bay County, Kenya. The Dispensary is situated nearby to the aerodrome Rusinga Airport.
Kolunga community center is around 50 meters from the Lake Victoria; the facility gets its water for its daily use from the Lake.
The Health center has only 1, 1000L water tank for water harvesting during rainy season
The facility uses around 800L of water every day, which makes it 24,000L of water per month
The facility serves around 400 patients per month and has a catchment population of 7,452 people thatwill consume 7,452X100L= 7, 00,452 L of water per month.
