Access to clean water for everyone who needs it

Creating lasting change for millions of lives.

Why this is important?

On average, Kenyan women and children walk six kilometres, risking their lives whilst carrying heavy buckets on their heads to collect water daily.

41% of Kenyans rely on unimproved water sources, such as ponds, shallow wells, and rivers, and one-third of the population does not have access to drinking water.

One in three schools worldwide has limited or no drinking water for students.

Over 500 children die daily from unsafe water and sanitation in sub-Saharan Africa.

How we work?

Lake Victoria is one of Africa’s Great Lakes; it covers a vast area of 26,600 square miles and borders three countries. The Lake contains high levels of lead, aluminium, arsenic, and phosphorus, which are toxic to humans and fatal. Each cutting-edge filtration machine will cycle contaminated water through vigorous sanitation procedures producing over 20,000 clean litres daily. The filtration systems will regenerate communities, restore agriculture, and the profit will aid the locals in attaining financial stability finally. The NoTaps solution provides safe water to Africans and eliminates the daily safety risks faced when walking for hours in extreme weather conditions to fetch water.

Our Mission

No Taps Foundation is a charitable non-profit organisation with a specific focus on providing clean water to communities on the shores of Lake Victoria. Our mission is to build sustainable water-filtration plants at selective locations in Kenya. The local filtration plants will be managed and operated by the local community creating employment and providing the opportunity for a self-sustained economy. Aside from the financial benefits to the community, No Taps will assist in easing the pain created by the horrendous water shortage in Africa. We are devoted to making clean water a global reality here at No Taps.

Our Team

Janice Selim is a philanthropist and entrepreneur of West African descent who founded No Taps in 2020. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, on the unceded land of the Eora nation, Janice has studied and worked across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the United States.

Growing up in an urban setting with many often overlooked liberties, including the privilege of unlimited clean filtered water, sparked Janice’s early desire to give back to her ancestral homeland. She has seen firsthand the effects of poor water sanitation in rural communities as a regular visitor to Kenya and other countries on the world’s second-largest continent. The reality that villagers, particularly women and children, risk their lives by spending over one-third of their day travelling to unclean water sources, is a driving force behind Janice’s charity mission.

“I founded The No Taps Foundation to tackle water scarcity in sub-Saharan Africa and build sustainable water-filtration plants along the shores of Lake Victoria,” Janice explains. “My devotion to this cause transcends boundaries; I plan to tackle water scarcity across the globe.”

For families, access to safe water and sanitation at home means health and hope.
